School Council
Our School Council is made up of representatives from Year 1 to Year 6, led by Mrs Nisbet. Children are newly elected every year by their peers and hold the role for the academic year. They meet regularly to discuss improvements to the school community and fundraising projects. Representatives report back to their classes, hold democratic votes to decide on events or charities to support and will pass on the views of their class at subsequent meetings.
2025-26
School councillors have been busy so far this year organising fundraising events for both national and local charities.
The children have organised an own clothes day in support of Children in Need which far exceeded our previous total and raised £1,036!
In the lead up to Christmas, we support Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day, which this year raised £342. Prior to the Christmas performances, children voted for a charity they wish to support, and this year voted to support WWF, raising £319. In the spring term, each class decided to 'Do Something Funny for Money' to raise money for Comic Relief with activities ranging from telling jokes to the teacher, painting their hands red and being silent for a period of time.
School Councillors have also been proactive in gathering ideas from their peers in the playground during the implementation of the OPAL programme, which they fed back to Mrs Goldsmith. Our Compass Councillors from Years 5 and 6 have also been busy throughout the year representing the school at Compass meetings, where this year's focus has been on safe use of the internet, which they fed back to classes.
